AMD seems determined to disrupt Intel’s new CPU launches as much as possible, with the company announcing across-the-board price cuts for all new gaming CPUs, effective immediately. new AMD Ryzen The price cuts affect every new chip in the new Zen 5 series, with the Ryzen 9 9950X slashing $50 from its cost and $30 from other chips in the range.
With Intel’s Arrow Lake set to launch later this week, and the Ryzen 9 9000X3D release date set for early November, AMD appears to be trying to make its new Ryzen 9000 CPU series look more attractive. Cynics might also argue that these chips were overpriced to begin with and that they should have launched at these prices in the first place, but we’ll take it either way. Cheaper CPUs are good for all of us.
Let’s start with the 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, which starts with $649 to $599 – $50 off. That’s still not cheap, especially when the Intel Core i9 14900K recently dropped to $445, but it’s still down 7.7%. While this CPU isn’t really aimed at gamers, its 16 Zen 5 cores make it a monster in heavily multi-threaded software.
On the other hand, the six-core AMD Ryzen 5 9600X is priced from US$279 to US$249. It’s still a bit more expensive than the Ryzen 5 7600X, which now sells for just $207, but it’s nice to see pricing moving in the right direction. From a proportional perspective, this is also the largest price drop for the land, equivalent to slightly more than 10.7%.
Meanwhile, the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 9700X has dropped from $359 to $329, though you can currently pick it up for $1. cheaper Priced at Amazon for $326.75. Finally, the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X, which launched with an MSRP of $499, has also dropped $30 to $469. However, you can still pick it up much cheaper Amazon currently sells it for $429.
AMD describes these new CPU prices as an “early holiday sale,” so they may not be permanent. However, with Intel launching new CPUs later this week, AMD will feel the pressure to keep processor prices competitive.
