New Train Tycoon Railroad Simulator 2 rolls into first station

Trains and computer games have gone hand in hand for decades. From classic games like Railroad Tycoon and Transport Tycoon, all the way to modern variations like Sweet Transit or Railroad Empire 2, managing your own railroad is a dream for many of us. Joining the list is Railway Company 2one of the next generation train management simulation games, is now available in early access.

Like the trains themselves, Railroad 2 builds on its predecessor. This management game isn’t steeped in Steam’s golden age, but rather it’s transported into the 20th century. This means that while you’ll start with coal and smoke, you’ll move toward electrification, a whole new way of powering your locomotives.

As with all the best tycoon games, there’s a lot in Railroad 2 that’s worth your time. Not only do you have to manage the layout of track and engines, you also need to hire the right staff, manage finances and get your feet wet launching and engaging the infrastructure that supports your train network.

The biggest missing feature right now is the lack of single-player AI, which means you’ll have to play against other real people if you like a challenge. In other words, game developers have released roadmap For the championship, AI opponents are on top.
